“A person who thinks all the time has nothing to think about except thoughts. So, he loses touch with reality and lives in a world of illusions.”
―Alan Watts
Lance Briggs, MSN, PMHNP, NP, ARNP
Lance Briggs is a dedicated Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with over a decade of experience in mental health care and clinical leadership. He earned his degree from the University of North Dakota and began his career as a psychiatric registered nurse in acute inpatient settings, where he developed a strong foundation in caring for individuals during some of their most vulnerable moments. He later advanced into a supervisory role at a major hospital in Houston while continuing his training as an advanced practice provider.
After becoming a PMHNP, Lance has worked across a wide range of settings, including outpatient addiction treatment, care for individuals with severe mental illness, bariatric psychiatry supporting patients preparing for life-changing weight-loss surgery, and correctional mental health serving underserved populations within the criminal justice system.
Lance also has a strong passion for psychoeducation and helping patients better understand how the brain functions. He believes that learning about the connection between brain chemistry, behavior, emotions, and life experiences can make treatment feel less intimidating and more empowering. His approach integrates psychopharmacology, neuroscience, and evidence-based research to guide both diagnosis and treatment decisions. By combining scientific understanding with compassionate care, Lance helps patients make informed decisions about their mental health while building greater insight into how and why symptoms occur.
Outside of work, Lance enjoys spending time at the beach with his dogs, Eddie and Koda, playing guitar, trying new restaurants, playing video games with his wife, Sophie and going for walks. He values balance, connection, and the importance of making time for the things that bring joy in everyday life.
Above all Lance believes that healing begins with understanding, and that compassionate, collaborative care can help people reconnect with themselves in meaningful and lasting ways.
